After nearly 20 years without a Women’s football team under the Harlow Town banner, 2015/16 saw the start of a new ‘women’s football revolution’ at Harlow Town with the creation of both a new Women’s 1st team and Under 18’s girls team.
This revolution was a combination of the vision of Harlow Town FC wanting to create a truly community based club offering opportunities for Girls and Women’s football to be available again in Harlow, and the desire of two local Girls teams to bring across their highly successful teams (Bury Rangers U18’s and Langley Colts U16’s) to be the catalyst in this new and exciting chapter at Harlow Town FC.
Our plan is simple; we want to create a female centre of excellence where superb facilities, combined with highly skilled and experienced coaches and quality footballers come together to achieve our vision of Harlow Town FC aiming over time to play at the highest possible level of Women’s semi-professional level.
The popularity of Girls and Women’s football, including the England Women’s team’s 3rd place at the 2015 World Cup in Canada and the Women’s FA Cup final now a regular fixture being played at Wembley Stadium, ‘The home of football’, (Crowd of 35k in May 2016) supports the fact that this is perfect timing for Harlow Town to have created this platform for the future growth of Girls and Women’s football in and around the Harlow area.
The inaugural season went over and above any of our expectations with the Ladies team beating all before them to win a quadruple of trophies and finish the season with a 100% win record, with 28 wins out of 28. In addition, our U18's (who are mainly u16/17's) finished a credible 4th in the County Premier League and also won the league Presidents cup.
We have approximately 40 players ranging from 15-25 years of age who all have a positive attitude and excellent ability to continue this journey and success along the way and with the support of our new exciting partner SES Security working with us to aid and develop this, the future is bright on and off the pitch.
If you would like to contact us at Harlow Town Ladies and find out how you can be involved on and off the pitch as a player, volunteer or as a supporter of your local women’s football team, then please visit @harlowladies on Twitter or join our Harlow Ladies FC facebook page or e-mail the club on firstname.lastname@example.org.
