I hope everyone involved at Harlow Town Football Club had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We begin 2019 currently sitting second from bottom of the league. If you look at our last eight matches, we sit midtable in terms of form, picking up 11 points out of a possible 24. With 19 league games left, if we were to continue that reign of form and pick up another 20-25 points, I am confident we will stay in the division. Our poor start to the season is ultimately why we still find ourselves towards the bottom of the league. As I stated in my last update, the factors involved with the team during pre-season and at the start of the season, made it an increasingly difficult job for Chappo and the team, however over the last eight games, we’ve started picking up points. From a senior management perspective, Chappo has our entire backing and it’s important that everyone involved at the club get’s behind Chappo and the team in what is going to be a tough second half of the season. This is an amazing club, with great support and it’s important we all come together, for the good of the team. Chappo is the man to take us forward, the club is going through a process of rebuilding, with a lot of work going on behind the scenes and I think we’ll really be able to challenge next season, which I am very hopeful, will be in the Bostik Premier Division.

So far, the 2018/19 season for all our youth teams has been great to watch. Seeing our younger sides thrive, learning the game, having fun, participating in older age group sessions and tournaments to further their understanding and development. Whilst seeing some of our older youth sides challenging themselves in tough leagues, adopting new players, making new friends and learning the importance of teamwork and working with others. A big thank you to our coaches who continue to give up their time to coach our kids. We have plans to increase our youth set-up in preparation for next season.

Towards the end of 2018 we were working hard to really embed the youth of Harlow in the club. To support this, myself and Alfie have been going into local schools, promoting the club and conducting PE sessions. We have been conducting kids’ tournaments before home first team games, we always have mascots, something a lot of other clubs do not do. We’ve had a slight increase in attendances over the last couple of months as a result and it’s something we’ll continue to push. We have some exciting partnerships which we’ll be announcing over the next few months. On another note, I am very happy to announce that we’ll soon be hosting Walking football and SSE Wildcat sessions.

2019 should be a very positive year for the club. We’re still making terrific progress, and this is a fantastic club to be part of. Come on you Hawks!
