The charity shield was set up a few years ago to help the leagues vice chairman's grand daughter to raise money for her treatment for leukemia unfortunately a few days before the first event Lauren passed away so the league now have the day every year to raise money for Clic Sargent a children's cancer charity that was helping lauren and of course in memory of Lauren
