With the end of the league campaign in sight, Danny Chapman has made a final shake-up of the squad with a number of signings today.

Getting the paperwork across the line before this afternoon’s 5pm registration deadline, Chapman has strengthened in all areas of the pitch for the final run-in.

Returning to the Club is defender Josh Urquhart, who previously played for the Hawks from 2013 to 2015. He made 91 appearances across the two seasons, helping the Club to back-to-back Division One North Playoff campaigns.

He moved to Wealdstone in the summer of 2015, before joining treble-winning Billericay Town the following year, making over 50 appearances and lifting the Essex Senior Cup, Isthmian League Cup and Isthmian League title in a highly successful season.

Josh started this season at Hampton and Richmond Borough, but he joined St Albans in December before now returning for another spell with the Hawks.

Experienced striker David Mooney has also put pen to paper. The Irishman started out at Shamrock Rovers in his home country, before an impressive goals tally attracted interest from England. A move to Reading followed, including stints on loan at Charlton Athletic and Colchester United.

Mooney transferred to Leyton Orient in 2011, a League One side at the time, where he established himself as a club legend in five years and across two spells with the Club, scoring 57 goals in 206 appearances.

Most recently he joined Royston Town last September, where he has been plying his trade this season.

Also joining the squad is goalkeeper Julian Schwartzer. Julian started out in the Fulham youth side, spending two years with the Under 18’s. Last summer signed for German side FC Pipinsried, and now joins the Hawks to strengthen the goalkeeping options.

We have also signed Christopher Gregan on dual registration from Chelmsford City. Gregan is a left back who has been playing for neighbours Bishop’s Stortford this season, making 40 appearances.

He was recalled by the Clarets and made his National League South debut earlier this month, and he also counts Gloucester City, Frome Town and Yate Town among his former clubs.

Jazz Wallace also joins the Hawks, on loan from Reading. The young midfielder has come through the Royals’ youth set-up, and after featuring regularly for the Under 18’s side in 2017-18, he has stepped up to their Under 23’s side. He has been out on loan at fellow Bostik Premier side Leatherhead this term.

We would like to welcome all our new signings to the Club, and they will all be available for selection this weekend as we travel to high-flying Tonbridge Angels.

Meanwhile, we can also announce that midfielder Harry Watkins has departed the Hawks in search of regular football, having made 13 appearances since signing in December 2018.

Goalkeeping coach Huseyin Gozutok has also left the Club by mutual consent, and we wish them both all the best for their future careers.
