Read picked up the ball after good work from Shane Stamp, and drove the ball home to give the Hawks an early lead. Harlow who fielded five local lads with another two on the bench were the better side in the first half, carving out various chances. Read and Stamp had chances to ill the game off, with Stamp missing an open goal after doing all the hard work.
With loads of changes for both sides in the second half, the game became a bit scrappy, but Potters Bar had the better of the chances with them hitting a post and missing a penalty after Ben Hart gave away the spot kick. But they could not take advantage and fired the ball over the bar.
