Hawks impress against Enfield Town

'There is no such thing as a friendly' is a famous football quote that can be
applied well to this game with local rivals Harlow Town and Enfield Town
battling it out for local supremacy. However it was Harlow who took the early
initiative, going a goal up in 11 minutes thanks to a header from deadly hitman
Alex Read who got on the end of a header across goal from James Smith after
Layne Eadie's initial cross was half cleared. They doubled the
advantage on 15 minutes as James Smith fired home. Enfield started to apply some
pressure towards the end of the half with Hawks keeper Ed Thompson saving well
from numerous Enfield attempts including a save from close range from former
Hawk Jamie Richards.

It was Richards who netted the only goal for Enfield Town on 37 minutes as he
poked home from a matter of yards out. Richards refused to celebrate his goal,
and got a few claps from the Harlow faithful who still hold them close to their
hearts. Chinedu McKenzie and Shane Stamp came close late on for Harlow
but the game failed to see another goal.
