Following their signings during the week, Sam West and Joe Benjamin went straight into the starting line-up for the home side.
Benjamin had an instant impact in the 14th minute, setting up the first goal. A VCD attack broke down, and as Harlow counter-attacked Benjamin played a perfectly weighted through-ball to last season's golden-boot winner, Alex Read, who confidently scored past the visiting keeper.
The second was a sublime effort from Junior Dadson. He cut inside from the right wing and with his left foot unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot from the corner of the area. It flew into the top corner of the net.
The third came after half-time, Joe Benjamin with another assist. He breezed past the VCD right-back, before crossing it low and hard across the box. Harry Prince couldn't miss, smashing it into the net from a couple of yards out.
Prince then turned provider, after a sublime passing move that involved several of the Harlow team. Prince picked out a final pass to Alex Read, who easily scored his second and the Hawks' fourth.
It was a great attacking performance from Harlow, but the defence were also required to work hard to keep a clean sheet. Last-ditch tackles from Craig Pope and Ibrahima Sonko were required to prevent goal-scoring opportunities, while West looked comfortable in his first appearance.
On Tuesday 28th July the Hawks make the trip to Sawbridgeworth Town in the next pre-season outing. Kick off is at 7:45pm.
