A brace from Alex Read secured a second 3-1 win in a row for Harlow as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of the playoffs last season.

The Hawks welcomed a strong Romford side that had won on the weekend and were going into the match with confidence. The game started with both teams looking for early goals and chances were coming thick and fast but nothing that would make either keeper work.

But it was Harlow who opened the scoring on 11 minutes through winger Shane Stamp. A great cross from new signing Ben Glasgow, making his home debut, found the on rushing Shane Stump who headed past Romford keeper Omand.

Harlow only lead for 5 minutes as Romford found an equaliser through Thompson. Thompson managed to wriggle his way past two Harlow defenders before calmly finishing past Ed Thompson.

Harlow were struggling to create too many chances and could only manage to create half chances through Kendall, Cowley and Read.

The second half started with Harlow flying out the blocks looking to regain their lead early on and they nearly done through Layne Eadie. He collected the ball in his own half and drove towards the Romford goal and unleashed a fierce shot that the Romford keeper done well to get fingertips on.

A substitution by Danny Chapman changed the game for Harlow. George Smith came on for Shane Stamp and brought movement and creativity to the game that Harlow were lacking. And it was him who got the assist to put Harlow back in front. A fantastic delivery from the young midfielder was just flicked on by Read and went into the bottom corner,

And James Smith, the new club captain, exquisitely created Reads second goal. Good build up play from Harlow resulted in Smith delivering a fantastic cross field pass to Read, who even from a tight angle slammed in a fantastic third goal.
