Harlow eased past local rivals Waltham Abbey 4-1 to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Goals coming from Cowley, Smith, Kendall and Read.

Waltham Abbey had 4 ex-Harlow players in their Starting eleven including James May, Tom Bruno, James Peagram and Ryan Kirby but they had an unhappy return to the Harlow Arena. Both Teams had started the season well but it was Harlow who got off to a flying start to the match.

Jarred Small excellently got away from Bedford, allowing him to whip in a cross but Abbey only cleared it to the calm and composed Dave Cowley who hammered home a beautifully struck shot on the edge of the area to give Harlow the lead on 5 minutes.

Harlow were oozing with confidence and playing some very attractive football despite the heavy rain. And Harlow extended their deserved lead through James Smith on 13 minutes. A similar goal to the one of Dave Cowley but this time it was from the opposite wing. Shane Stamp delivered a great cross which again the Abbey defence failed to deal with leaving James Smith finish into bottom right hand corner.

Waltham Abbey failed to test Keeper Ed Thompson at all in the first half and were poor in all areas, resulting in Harlow's complete domination of the game. Harlow could have had even more goals to celebrate but keeper James May denied, Small, Read and Stamp in a short period of time.

But Harlow did make it 3-0 before the break. Following a fantastic move from Alex Read and Smith, James Smith swung in a corner and was met by David Kendall and was headed with power into the corner of the net.

If Waltham Abbey were to somehow get something from the game then they needed to grab a quick goal in the second half. They didn't. Instead it was Harlow that grabbed the goal the pretty much sealed the game. After a high tempo build up, the ball made its way over to Layne Eadie who swung in a delightful cross that Alex Read chested into the back of the net.

Waltham Abbey did offer some threat towards the Harlow goal when they had efforts from Bruno, Edmunds and Peagram all going close. And eventually Abbey got a goal back through striker Jason Hallet., A high cross from Tom Bruno was leaped upon by the rising Hallet and was buried into the bottom corner, but it was too late for a serious comeback. 4-1 The game finished and Harlow gain the bragging rights once again.
