Harlow defeated near neighbours Cheshunt 5-1, with Cheshunt receiving 3 red cards! Goals from Cowley(2), Stamp, Read and Jones gave Harlow the win.

Harlow welcomed near neighbours Cheshunt to the Harlow Arena this afternoon and looked to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

It was a lively start to the game and it wasn’t long before Harlow got their first opportunity. Simms won the ball through a great interception and got back on his feet quickly and launched a ball to Read who flicked it to Appiah but his effort was well saved by Williamson.

Harlow did get the first goal of the match. James Smith cleverly got by his man, and swung in a floated delivery which Williamson couldn’t handle and David Cowley tapped into an open net to continue his fine scoring form on 11 minutes.

Harlow nearly doubled their lead 10 minutes later. A great flowing move from Harlow, A tidy pass from Read put through Fabion Simms who cut the ball back for Dave Cowley but his left footed effort was very well saved by Williamson.

Cheshunt were offering a lot of threat with pace coming from Josh Fagbohun and Allen Bossman and had their first real chance from Adam Bolle. Fagbohun cleverly drifted past two Harlow players and put in Adam Bolle who wasn’t composed enough to take his chance and his shot flew past the goal.

Cheshunt were reduced to ten men after Lewis Payne smashed the ball at David Cowley after he had been fouled and Cheshunt were going to come back with ten men.

Cheshunt should have been level but an Adam Bolle goal was chalked off as the referee mysteriously gave a throw in to Harlow.
Cheshunt were reduced to 9 men just before the break when Ayran TajBakhsh received a second yellow card verbal descent.

Cheshunt with only 9 men equalised on the 50th minute. Adam Bolle collected the ball mid way through the Harlow Half turned and curled in a beautiful shot from 25 yards.

Moments after the equaliser Cheshunt were reduced to 8 men! Josh Fagbohun received his second yellow card for a foul on Josh Urquhart.

It was two moments of magic from the Cheshunt keeper Glenn Williamson. He denied Read twice in a space of two minutes. The first save was when Read cut inside and bended his shot which was bending into the corner of the net but Williamson got fingertips onto the ball. And the second save was from a point blank range again from Alex Read.

But Harlow took advantage of the extra 3 players and re-established their lead through Shane Stamp. Dave Cowley shifted the ball out wide to substitute Small who delivered a fantastic cross for Shane Stamp to rise highest head in on 64 minutes.

Harlow had numerous chances to extend their lead through Read, Simms, Small and Smith but no efforts were able to beat the inform keeper Williamson.

But Harlow were able to seal the three points with a goal from Billy Jones. A great run from substitute Jared Small ended in a great pass across the box and Billy Jones scuffed his first attempt but regained his balance to slot past the keeper in the 80th minute.

Harlow soon added a fourth through a deflected David Cowley shot. Cowley picked the ball up twenty yards and drilled it towards the goal and a slight deflection took it past the Cheshunt keeper.

Harlow got their fifth of the afternoon from Alex Read. Billy Jones turned away from his defender and sent into the box a delightful ball for Alex Read to head in.
