Harlow Town drew 1-1 with Wormley Rovers at the Pardus Wealth Stadium.

It was yet another exciting Tuesday night spectacle at the Pardus Wealth Stadium, our largest crowd yet this campaign of 443 were in attendance to witness our contest between the Hawks and Wormley Rovers.

An evidently frustrating performance on the weekend meant a lot was to be asked of the returning squad from the 1-1 draw with Cannons Wood, at which we snatched a late draw thanks to a Roman Percil penalty against our former groundshares. With an unchanged lineup and a bumper crowd, the boys in red were prepared for battle.

As is usually the case, Harlow begun the game on the front foot, with James Pellin having next to nothing to do in goal. Unlike the previous fixture, Chapman’s side showed more confidence in attacking situations, keeping the ball on the floor rather than opting for a long ball at every opportunity. By attacking in this manor, a number of chances fell for us and Gavin Cockman came close with an effort, whilst fouling the Wormley goalkeeper.

At the very end of the first half, Harlow’s attacking intent was solidified and the young Arley Barker gave us a deserved advantage going into the break.

It has to be said that the second half was where the real end-to-end action commenced – with James Pellin facing a number of attempts as Wormley “grew into the game”, as Danny Chapman mentioned in a post-match interview. Of these early attempts, he dealt with them all comfortably until a free kick flew into the box and a Wormley player tapped it past him, an unsavable goal that occurred as a result of poor defending from a set piece again. In his interview, Chapman also confirmed this is “something we need to work on”.

Eventually, an impedingly dangerous Wormley effort from outside the box forced James Pellin into making a world-class save at full stretch, which he dealt with remarkably and was given an ovation by the whole ground for this. Harlow desperately threw men up the pitch near the end of the game and although the intent was there, we struggled to hit the target and it cost us as Wormley held onto the point for dear life.

Thank you once again for your unbelievable support, we are ecstatic that 443 of you were at Tuesday’s game and we are ever grateful. Come on you Hawks!
