Harlow Town beat Park View 4-0 on Saturday at the New River Sports Centre in Haringey.

A textbook performance from Danny Chapman’s side saw off a struggling Park View side, in their own park. It was a real team effort as we saw a true variation of goals, with Ruben Santos and Jack Cousins grabbing their first for the club, whilst Josh Brown and Roman Percil found themselves on the scoresheet yet again for the Hawks.

Park View are a side that have struggled to find their feet in the Thurlow Nunn League this season after claiming an 11th place finish in the previous campaign: the blues have secured only one 7 points thus far, being beaten heavily on numerous occasions by St Margaretsbury, Woodford Town, May & Baker and Southend Manor.

75 fans witnessed the game, that had been delayed by 35 minutes due to two holes in the pitch that were eventually filled in and in the heat of the September sun, the game was given the green light by the referee.

Danny Chapman had made two changes from last week’s 4-0 win over Newbury Forest in the FA Vase, bringing James Folkes back into the mix, and allowing Gavin Cockman to rest whilst Josh Brown led the line.

Park View put their best foot forward after the first whistle, sending Obed Sunkwah up the field who unleashed a rather tame effort that James Pellin had no issues in dealing with. Shortly after, Harlow responded and after Tom Jelliman was fouled on the edge of the area an opportunity had arisen to cause hassle for Park View. In a clever move straight off the training ground, Junior Dadson laid it off to Ruben Santos who struck it early and way beyond the reach of Kufre Inua; an early red advantage once again.

An immediate response followed from the home side, hitting Chappo’s side on the break and Abdallah Zakpiombu’s attempt was denied heroically by James Pellin. One goal was simply not enough for the reds and we ensured that a second was in order. James Pellin played an astonishing ball upfield and Junior Dadson was there to grab hold of it, after poor Park View defending. He unselfishly played the ball across and Josh Brown fired home with an excellent finish and the gap widened.

Chances continued to fall for the away side until Alex Luque’s cross fell for Ruben Santos, who’s golden touch obliterated any chance of the defence recovering. Instead of striking it, in this instance he played the ball around the keeper and Roman Percil tapped it into the gaping net. Unfortunately, the linesman’s flag denied him and the score remained 2-0.

Park View attempted to put one hand back on the game but the Harlow pressure overwhelmed them and Roman Percil was fouled in the opposition box, giving the reds a major chance to extend the lead further. Finally, Roman did get his goal dispatching the penalty well straight down the middle – his second goal from the spot this season.

A Park View goal almost came as they hit us on the break, managing to take it round James Pellin but a piece of substantial defending denied them once again. Park View were sure to make another error at the back, with Kufre Inua’s goal kick being fiercely intercepted by Jack Cousins, who blasted it home and the Hawks hit four once again.

A duo of masterful James Pellin saves concluded what was a great day at the office for the Hawks, with substitutions such as Bobby Kirby, Ishaq Ameen, Ashton Wilkins and Arley Barker adding to the thrashing. We move on to the next game vs Newbury Forest at home, in the Thurlow Nunn League on Saturday 9th September at the Pardus Wealth Stadium.
