Harlow scored two goals in as many minutes mid-way through the first half, but Great Wakering pulled one back almost straight away.
An eventful second half saw Harlow skipper Craig Pope shown a red card, before the home side drew level with just four minutes to play.
Junior Dadson hit the post early on, but it took until the 21st minute to break the deadlock. Layne Eadie put the Hawks ahead when he finished from eight yards out.
Just two minutes later, Fabion Simms doubled the lead. A sublime overhead kick from the penalty spot looped over the stranded Adam Seal in the home net, to put Harlow in a commanding position.
The two goal margin didn’t last long however, with sloppy defending allowing Bradley Vaughan to convert a corner and pull a goal back for the hosts.

Harlow were up against it, when soon after the re-start captain Craig Pope was sent off. The referee adjudged the defender to have stamped and produced a straight red, leaving the visitors to play almost half the game with 10 men.
As it looked like the three points had been secured, the Hawks were once again left to rue poor defending from another corner. Substitute Billy Johnson equalised to make it two games in a row that Harlow have conceded within the last five minutes.
