Harlow cruised to a comfortable win with three first half goals, moving up into second in the table.

Layne Eadie opened the scoring early on with a great individual goal, which was quickly doubled by Leon Antoine ten minutes later. Jared Small finished off at the back post with just over half an hour played, effectively ending the tie.

The Hawks comfortably saw out the game, with another well-deserved three points leap-frogging them over Thurrock, who slipped up at home to Cray Wanderers.

It took only four minutes until Harlow went ahead, with Layne Eadie making a great individual run from his own half. His curling shot from 25 yards found to top corner for a great start to the game.

Ten minutes later, Leon Antoine doubled the lead with a trademark powerful header, leaving Bury Town stopper Duncan McAnally with no chance of keeping it out of the net.

Not for the first time this season, Joe Benjamin was terrorising defenders on the left flank, and right-back Tevan Allen was unable to keep the winger at bay for the second goal. Benjamin powered to the byline, and his cross found Jared Small at the back-post.

Small’s first time volley hit the ground before bouncing up and over the ‘keeper, creeping under the bar for a three goal cushion.

The visitors were able to take their foot off the gas in the second period with the game all but won, but still they created the majority of chances.

Syrus Gordon took one touch to control the ball, before his second sent the ball towards the top corner. McAnally reacted well, diving to his right to push the ball away for a corner.

Fabion Simms then dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area, before Lewis Perkins beat the goalkeeper but saw his shot blocked by centre-back Connor Hall.

The hosts were restricted to wayward shots from distance, and Hawks custodian David Hughes was treated to a rare quiet night where he was barely required to get his gloves dirty.

The night was capped by the result in the other game that involved playoff-chasing sides, as Thurrock clipped to a narrow 0-1 defeat to Cray Wanderers, to allow Harlow to take control in the race for the runner-up spot.
