Both sides struggled to contend with the elements as the heavens opened, but the hosts took the lead soon after the break through Ryan Jarvis. Jake Reed doubled the lead four minutes later before adding two more to complete a second half hat-trick.
Harlow were on top for the opening period, and almost went ahead within the first minutes of the game. A Mario Noto corner found Fabion Simms unmarked, but the header was saved well by Lowestoft ‘keeper Jamie Waite
Ibrahima Sonko was also a threat to the hosts at aerial set-pieces, but his efforts couldn’t find the mark.
The rain that had been threatening worsened as the half wore on, making a sustained period of possession difficult for both sides and limiting chances of a goal.
Lowestoft improved as the game approached half time, and with the rain beginning to ease they imposed themselves in the attacking third.
Michael Spillane put down a marker as his shot grazed the post before he went even closer to breaking the deadlock. Frazer Blake-Tracy’s corner was well-placed, and Spillane saw his effort cleared off the line by Harlow left-back Layne Eadie.

Lowestoft continued their attacking intent after the interval too. Harvey Hodd’s pass put Jake Reed through on goal, but his effort was wasted.
With 51 minutes on the clock, the pressure told for the hosts. Andrew Fisk played in Ryan Jarvis, who chipped Harlow stopper David Hughes to take the lead.
The scoreline was doubled just four minutes later, when Jake Reed neatly rounded Hughes to slide the ball home.
Harlow needed a quick goal to get straight back into the game. They looked to have the opportunity when Layne Eadie went down in the penalty area under a challenge from Harry Barker, but the referee waved play on.
Any hope of a comeback was effectively over after 72 minutes. Harvey Hodd cut the ball back from the byline, and Jake Read tapped home for his second goal of the game.
The visitors were well off the pace and struggling to contain the buoyant Trawlerboys who were looking for a fourth. Jake Reed went close to getting his third when his header struck the crossbar.
With the game in injury time, Jake Read did finally get his hat-trick with a close-range finish, capping off an impressive performance.
Harlow will have to write the game off as a bad day at the office, but with just two points from five away league games so far, the form on the road is troubling.
