A Jimmy Shepherd own goal was all that could separate the sides, despite the Hawks going close throughout the afternoon.
It took less than half a minute for the Hawks to put a stamp on the game when Junior Dadson broke through, but Enfield Town stopper Joe Wright was equal to the low shot.
Wright was forced into another save soon after when Alex Read unleashed an effort from the edge of the area, but the goalkeeper tipped it onto the crossbar and out of danger.
Despite the Hawks being on top for the opening period, the hosts went ahead against the run of play after 13 minutes. A free kick was whipped in by Aaron Greene, and Harlow Town defender Jimmy Shepherd turned the clearance into his own net.
The hosts were saved by the woodwork again when Junior Dadson turned and smashed a shot against the post, and it just didn’t seem to be falling for the Hawks.
Enfield Town came into the game as it developed, but Aaron Greene’s effort was the best they could offer which was comfortably saved by Ben McNamara.
It was then the turn of the home side to hit the frame of the goal when Drew Roberts driven shot smashed off the bar, before another effort of his went just too high.

The Hawks came out for the second half with much the same verve as the first, but Enfield Town were defending deep and snuffing out all attempts at goal before they could cause the goalkeeper too much trouble.
For the home side Ryan Blake saw an effort scrambled clear of the goalmouth before Sam Young put the ball wide from a promising position.
Harlow Town were still looking for the goal to get themselves back into the game and when Xavier Vidal came on to replace Junior Dadson he dived straight into the action, smashing a shot over the bar from inside the area.
Ryan Blake beat Ben McNamara in the Harlow goal, but the ball drifted wide and the Enfield Town man couldn’t convert the chance which would have sealed the game.
Joe Wright had almost single-handedly kept the hosts in the game at times, and he was once again called on to pull out a wonderful save in the final minutes from another Xavier Vidal shot.
The Hawks had a late penalty appeal turned down, but in a moment that personified their frustrating afternoon it was waved away, and the visitors were left wondering how they came away with nothing from the game.
