Harlow were going into the game with momentum on their side following their victory over Needham Market on Saturday.
Harlow started the first half brightly with sharp movement and precise passing. The retention of the ball was key for Harlow as they were dominant.
However Dereham had the first chance of the game. The lively Craig Bussens drove past Robbie Martin and his shot was well held by Darren Behcet.
But it was Harlow who broke the deadlock. Robbie Martin intercepted a loose pass from a dereham defender and he skipped past one defender and unleashed a fantastic shot and flew into the top corner on 16 minutes.
By this time Harlow were in cruise control and only looked like adding to their goal. Harlow had a great chance to extend their lead. Leon Antoine dragged his cross back to Read who shimmied past 2 defenders but his shot was blocked off the line by sommerfield.
Dereham nearly equailised through Aaron Kay. His cracking effort was superbly saved by Darren Behcet.
But after this chance, Harlow were dominant and never looked like scoring.
But Dereham did score. A fantastic run by Craig Bussens was rounded off by a curling shot and Behcet had no chance on 33 minutes.
The second half started like the first. They were quick out the traps and wanted to get the early second goal.
But it was the visitors that got the goal. A very unfortunate goal to concede for Harlow. A cross come in from the Right and Leon Antoine has gone to clear the ball but it struck Kyle Downes and gone straight in past the goalkeeper on 51 minutes 1-2.
Harlow were pushing for an equaliser. Danny Chapman brought on Junior Dadson for Leon Antoine and he made a big impact on the game. Dadson was creating chances and having chances of his own.
Harlow were being frustrated by Dereham but Harlow finally got what they deserved. A cross from Martin was met by Brown whose header was spilled by the keeper, Read was there to tap in on 67 minutes.
Harlow had many chances to get the winner in the game, coming from dadson, glowacki, Brown, Read and Martin but were unable to beat the dereham keeper.
