Hawks upset League leaders

VCD Athletic had the better of the first half and could of taken the lead as early as the 7th minute, when the influential Karl Dent hit the bar when chipping over the outrushing Harlow goalkeeper Darren Bechet. VCD were having a lot of the ball but had to wat until the 24th minute when Stuart Zanone had a shot tipped round the post by Bechet. On 31minutes Zanone was through on goal when Behcet dived at the centre forwards feet and clearly got a hand to the ball to divert the ball, Zanone then fell to the floor and the referee surprisingly pointed to the spot. But justice was done when Darren Behcet did well to save low down to his Right. It was not until the 36th minute that Harlow had there first shot in anger, when pacey winger Shane Stamp cut in from the left and unfortunately he did not connect properly with his shot and it was an easy save for home goalkeeper Nick Blue.
The game changed full circle in the 2nd Half, Danny Chapman replaced Shane Stamp with Stanley Muguo and The Hawks took control.
Read had 3 chances to score but found the side netting with one shot and the other hit over the bar. Read then hit the base of the post on 67 minutes after being put through by Junior Dadson. But on 70 minutes great work by Read down the right flank, he managed to put in a great cross for James Smith to punish the VCD defence and scored from 8 yards out. 5 minutes later and Leon Antoine sent a cross into the box Blue and Muguo jumped for the ball, but both failed to connect, there was a small scuffle with Read and Muguo fighting for the ball with a VCD defender, but it broke kindly for Muguo to slot home from 10 yards to give the hawks a two goal cushion. VCD produced a consolation goal on 90+4 minutes with a dipping half volley from Peter Smith. Harlow then saw out the final 30 seconds to earn a fantastic 3 points.
