It was a very scrappy start from both teams as the wind and the slight drizzle made it difficult to play attractive football. However Harlow fans were still entertained.
Harlow were dominating play but were struggling to create any chances to trouble the Witham Town keeper. Witham were lacking any real threat going forward but looked solid and organised defensively.
There were only a few chances for Harlow to take the lead but Witham had Goalkeeper Martyn Guest to thank. He stopped efforts from Read, Glowacki and Smith.
Witham must of been thinking they were heading into half time at 0-0. But in the last minute of the half Harlow deservedly took the lead. A corner was swung in from James Smith and Leon Antoine rose highest to nod the ball home.
The second half took a while to get going as the conditions were getting worse and play looked as if it could be stopped.
Witham created a few great chances with the likes of Emmanuel, Ruel and Newby all going agonisingly close for Witham to equalise.
However midway through the second half the referee stopped play due to the lightning and thunder that was covering the Harlow arena. There was a 15 minute break from the action but the teams were back out and were ready to go. But lightning literally stroke twice as the players were called in again and to patiently wait until the skies were clear.
Moments later the players were back out for good and needed to play out the rest of the 25 minutes of the game.
After the restart Harlow extended the lead. Another corner from Smith was noded down by Antoine to Dadson who smashed in on 79th minute.
And to round off a good day for Harlow they somehow stopped Witham scoring with 3 attempts in about 10 seconds. 3 clearances off the line made sure that Harlow kept their second consecutive league clean sheet.
