Harlow were thrashed 4-1 at home to AFC Sudbury who knocked out Harlow in the Robert Dyas Cup Quarter Final. Goals from Henshaw, Thompson, Horne and Forshaw completed a comfortable victory for Sudbury. Alex Read gave Harlow hope but Harlow were unable to

Harlow Town manager Danny Chapman was absent from the game so Paul West-Hook took control over the team. Harlow were going into the game with full confidence as they beat high flyers Witham Town. Also Harlow had only lost two home league matches all season before this game. Harlow also had back to back clean sheets.

It was the visitors that started brightly as they were knocking the ball around more elegantly than the Hawks but were unable to get an early goal. But Sudbury were creating chances. Sudbury went agonisingly close on two occasions. The first was when a cross was pulled back to the edge of the are towards the onrushing Greg Crane who was unmarked stroked a powerful effort goal wards but curled wide. Then moments later as a cross was floated in and the unmarked Swatman missed what seemed to be an great opportunity.

The first chance for Harlow came on the 29th minute. AFC Sudbury failed to clear the danger and the ball found its way to Layne Eadie who lashes a thunderous shot that was heading into the top corner was fantastically kept out by Alex Archer.

Harlow recently re signed striker Chinedu Mckenzie and he started the match and could have opened for Harlow on his return. James Smith wriggled away from his man and found Mckenzie who hit a shot just over the bar.

But that was as good as it got for Harlow as the first half was dominated by possession play by the visitors.

The second half was a much entertaining half, well for the visitors anyway. After a 10 minute dominant spell from AFC Sudbury, they broke the deadlock on 57 minutes. A corner came in from the right an the on rushing Ryan Henshaw powered in to make it 1-0.

They got their second goal soon afterwards. Harlow failed to deal with another goal, and a goalmouth scramble that resulted in Thompson extending the lead for Sudbury.

Sudbury seemed to be cruising at this point and were the team looking to get the next goal.

But it was Harlow who got the next goal that sparked a hopeful comeback. The goal came out of nowhere as Harlow won a corner following a counter attack and the corner was met by Blewitt who headed towards Alex Read who swivelled his body and fired in the bottom corner.

But Harlow's hopes of a comeback were soon killed as Sudbury got their third. A well taken goal by Ryan Horne who found space on the left, cut in and curled past keeper Daniel Knowles.

And to add to Harlow's misery Sudbury got a fourth to seal their place in the semi finals. A fantastic individual goal by substitute Jamie Forshaw who struck a curling shot from 25 yards that flew into the top corner.

HARLOW: Knowles, Barnard, Blewitt, McLeod- Urquhart, Eadie, Glowacki, Muguo, G Smith (Curley), Read, J Smith, McKenzie (O'Donoghue)
