Harlow Town claimed yet another three points at the Pardus Wealth Stadium on Tuesday night, now making it three wins on the bounce for Danny Chapman’s side going into an FA Vase weekend.
The win came against Dunmow Town, who emerged as a strong outfit last campaign, making the Thurlow Nunn Division One South playoff final, and only just losing out on back-to-back promotions thanks to Wormley Rovers being the victors of that game.
Things haven’t been quite the same this season though, with changes evidently happening within the club, and they are therefore adapting to their current situation, no longer playing at Heybridge Swifts, but instead at Saffron Walden.
Their young squad had only managed 2 wins from their opening 6 games going into Tuesday’s fixture but were hopeful to win points on the road.
The game could not have started better for Dunmow Town, who found themselves an early lead in just the second minute of the game. Harlow had a slow start, and knew that they would have to improve if they were to find an equaliser in the game.
Dunmow held their lead at the break, but the second half is where Harlow really kicked on, and made a positive impact on the scoreline.
Shortly after Jack Haley was introduced for Korede Da Silva, Harlow won a penalty, which was dispatched fantastically by Ruben Santos, levelling the game.
A matter of seconds later, Ishaq Ameen found the net, with a goal that caused fury from Dunmow, sparking a debate as to whether or not the ball crossed the line. However, it did indeed cross the line, which was captured on video by our club photographer Kelsi O’Connor.
Almost 10 minutes later, Arley Barker grabbed his first goal of the season, killing any chance of a Dunmow Town comeback late in the game, and securing all three points for the Hawks.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you on Saturday for our first FA Vase game of the season, against Ilford FC.
