The Hawks twice came back from a two-goal deficit to secure a point on the opening day at home to Aylesbury United

It was the visitors who had the lead early on as a Ollie Hogg shot from distance snuck into the bottom corner, beating Tom Crump in the Hawks net. The Hawks looked to respond but the Duck's keeper denied the Hawks with a save before the visitors lead had been doubled just after the 10 minute mark. Jake Bewley scored direct from a corner as the ball swung on the keeper.

Harlow looked to respond once again, but this time they had one back as Jared Small latched onto a ball from Layne Eadie, with the former heading it beyond the keeper. The Hawks had chances to bring themselves level before the break, the closest being a head just going wide, but Aylesbury also showed threat as Crump was forced into some good saves; Zvikomborero Makwada saw a shot smothered by the Harlow shot-stopper before the keeper caught a ball from the edge of the box while Evans Lamboh fired straight over the bar.

With the lead going into the second-half, Aylesbury looked for a third as Makwade was again denied, this time a block from inside the box before another effort from Tom McElroy was fired wide. Down the other end, the Hawks continued to fight for an equaliser but were denied by a block.

The Duck's third of the afternoon came just before the final 10 minutes as Bewley fired in another corner, restoring the visitors two-goal cushion, but there was still plenty of time. The Hawks got one back in the 85th minute as birthday boy Josh Steele volleyed the ball into the back of the net after a scramble in the box before new-signing Hani Berchiche got his first Harlow goal as the forward struck a ball from outside the box, beating the keeper.

There were chances for both sides to win the game; Aylesbury United saw an effort fly over the bar before the Hawks countered, with a back heel shot ending up over the bar. With all additional time played, the points were shared on a sweltering afternoon at the Pardus Wealth Stadium.
